The Antigonish Affordable Housing Society (AAHS) is one step closer to moving forward with the next phase of Riverside Estates. On June 1st, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, and the Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), announced $81,095 in SEED Program funding for AAHS. The funding will be used for architect’s fees and research on the need for affordable housing in the Antigonish area.
The second phase of Riverside Estates will comprise 10 one- and two-bedroom units, one of which will be barrier free. AAHS plans to begin construction of the units once funding has been secured.
The Member of Parliament for Central Nova, Sean Fraser, was the MC for the announcement at the People’s Place Library.
