Riverside Estates Construction Timeline
2013-15 Land for Riverside Estates provided by the Town of Antigonish for $1.
  $100,000 commitment received from the Municipality of the County of Antigonish over five years.
  $100,000 donated by the Sisters of St. Martha.
July 2016 $100,000 in federal & provincial funding announced by Housing Nova Scotia.
August 2016 Tenders called for construction.
September 2016 Robert Archibald Construction awarded tender to build Phase 1.
Footings, frost wall & backfilling completed.
Site sign erected.
October 2016 Ground work on the site completed including site levelling & excavation, frost wall & concrete slab, tie in to municipal water & sewer lines, a concrete walkway, & preparation for paved parking.
November 2016 Exterior is complete; windows, doors, spray foam insulation installed.
December 2016 Slabs poured for washrooms in wheelchair accessible units.
January 2017 Electrical wiring installed, drywall hung, all units insulated.
Painting & trimming work has begun.
Power pole installed providing heat & power to the building.

Kitchens, vanities, trim & electrical fixtures have been added.
Two upper units are now complete.
Occupancy permits for March 1st have been secured for the upper units.
Lower units are nearing completion.Hook-ups for the washer & dryer for the wheelchair accessible units completed.
Storage shed for tenants being built by NSCC.
All necessary inspections & walk-through have been done.
Phase 1 units are ready for occupancy.
April/May 2017 Street sign is up.
Storage shed for Phase 1 tenants  has arrived.
Landscaping has begun.
February 2018 Site preparation begins on the footings for Phase 2 .
Two additional storage sheds have been ordered.
 March 2018 Footings poured, underfloor plumbing installed.
Floors are poured … ready for the walls.
 April/May 2018 Rough grading completed around the building.
Pre-manufactured walls, roof structure & interior partitions erected.
Roofing, exterior doors & windows installed.
June 2018 Siding & trim installed..
Landscaping &  hydroseeding of the lawn completed on one side of the building.
Structure of the new Community Room beginning to take shape.
Interior work is ongoing.
July/August 2018 Kitchen & bathroom cabinets installed in 8 units.
All appliances ordered.
Community Room insulated and gyprocked.
Walkways poured & final landscaping completed.
Picnic table, solar lights & garbage boxes installed.
Arrangements for on-site postal box made.
New community garden boxes created.
September/ October 2018 Landscaping is complete; 14 spruce trees planted along the boundary. Forsythia seedlings to be planted in the spring.
Path created to the rear of the lot where new raised garden boxes will be built.
Mailbox pad poured; new mailboxes installed by Canada Post.
New storage sheds being built by the Nova Scotia Community College.
Community Room now functional.
Phase 2 completed and ready for occupancy.
